In the age of Instagram (or whatever flavor social-media-app-of-the-moment-that-allows-photo-sharing people are using), it’s getting harder and harder to get a landmark shot that has not been done 1000 times before.

Take the Hollywood sign, for example. There’s not that many places you can get up close and personal to it. And the places you can, there’s a zillion smartphone-toting tourists also taking the same angle and composition. Originality is harder to come by for many famous locations.

So, what to do?

Step back a few paces and shoot the people shooting the photos. You might get lucky.

In this case, I did. There was a female tourist adjusting her hair between shots and sort of daydreaming. Perfect! Click. Done. Hollywood Dreamer.

Adding people into the composition somehow really makes the world of difference in shooting the most over-shot locations on earth.

And you never know what you are going to get!
